A Poem to Grandpa

Things out of my hands, nothing I can do

It doesn’t seem fair, how can I go on without you

You’ve taught me so much, and you’ve always been there

Always assuring you’re one call away, a minute to spare

Things will be tough, but I know I’ll get through

Only because I had the privilege of learning from you

I remember the games and things we’d pretend

Like when your car was a submarine on the descend

To the depths of the ocean, your sunroof presents

All of the fishes of the ocean, as we were on our descent

As you ascend up to heaven and wait at the pearly gates

You should have an express pass, because you were so great

You’ll always be with me and I’m thankful for that

Although I’d do anything to bring you back

I love you Grandpa with all my heart

And it hurts me that we’ll be apart

But we’ll only be apart for a period of time

Until it is my turn to make that climb

Up into heaven where we will forever be

Together, reunited as a family…
